Ten individuals convicted of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.

Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
