It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
